Find Idaho DOC Releases

To find someone released from Idaho Department of Correction institutions after a Bear Lake County felony case, use the statewide corrections record rather than a county jail roster. Idaho prisons hold sentenced state residents, and no IDOC prison is identified within Bear Lake County. A parole release moves a person from an institution into community supervision, while discharge ends IDOC jurisdiction. The state search, parole decision, court sentence, and IDOC records office each document a different part of that path.

Idaho DOC Release Paths

Idaho Department of Correction institutions form a statewide prison system, not a Bear Lake County jail. A person committed on a felony sentence enters IDOC jurisdiction and may be placed or transferred among institutions. The facility field records a current placement. It is not a permanent history and does not change the underlying state-custody status.

Release from an IDOC institution can lead to parole, another custodial authority, or the end of the sentence. “Released to Supervision” with “In community” means the person left the prison setting but remains under IDOC control. “Discharged” means IDOC jurisdiction ended. A transfer between IDOC facilities is not a release, and a county booking that ends in an IDOC commitment is not a community release.

Movement Meaning Best proof
Prison transfer State custody continues IDOC location/status
Parole release Community supervision begins Released to Supervision plus Commission action
Full-term discharge IDOC jurisdiction ends Discharged or satisfaction record
Other-agency hold Custody may continue elsewhere Sending and receiving records

Confirm an Idaho DOC Release

The official Resident/Client Search is the first public route. IDOC intentionally calls it a resident and client search because it includes people incarcerated, on court probation, and on parole. It also leaves a minimal name trace for people who satisfied sentence, though convictions disappear from that public result.

  1. Search with at least the first two letters of the last name and optional first name, or use the first three digits or full IDOC number.
  2. Open the matching detail and read the current top-level status, facility or supervision unit, and felony information.
  3. Preserve exact labels such as Incarcerated, In community, Released to Supervision, Discharged, or scheduled termination.
  4. For parole, compare the Commission action notice. A grant or tentative date alone is not the actual release.
  5. When the result is sparse or appears wrong, use IDOC's Request for Information route for the public face sheet and release or discharge entry.
State-prison rule: a live Bear Lake County jail roster would not be the correct place to verify an IDOC prison release.

IDOC states that the public database updates daily but can lag. Date-stamp a result and return to it after a planned event. The Bear Lake County release search supplies the separate county and court routes when the case never entered state prison.

Idaho DOC Search Fields

The public search has a narrow input set, while the detail page can carry several kinds of status evidence. Not every record displays every field. A scheduled termination is not the prison exit date, and a satisfied-sentence result intentionally omits the convictions that were previously served.

Field Use Limit
Last and first name Find possible identity matches Common names need comparison
IDOC number Identify one state record Must be copied accurately
Status Shows prison, community, or discharge context Daily data may lag
Facility or unit Shows current institution or supervising unit Placement can change
Sentence dates Shows labeled sentence milestones when present Not all are actual releases

Idaho DOC Date Meanings

Idaho's sentence framework separates the fixed term, parole eligibility, a tentative parole decision, actual release to supervision, and the end of jurisdiction. Under Idaho Code § 19-2513, the court sets a unified sentence with a fixed part and, where imposed, an indeterminate part. Credit for qualifying time before judgment is governed by § 18-309.

The fixed portion is generally served before parole eligibility. Idaho does not use a general 85-percent state-prison shorthand. Exceptional meritorious reduction under § 20-101D concerns extraordinary service, such as saving a life or preventing a serious riot or escape, and is not routine good time. IDOC Sentencing Records performs the official calculation from the judgment and credits.

Parole eligibility
The earliest point for discretionary consideration.
Tentative parole
A conditional planned date after a Commission grant.
Released to Supervision
A completed move from prison into community oversight.
Discharge
The end of IDOC jurisdiction.

Idaho DOC Records Contact

When a public result cannot answer the question, request the public face sheet or sentence computation. A focused request can identify the IDOC number, Bear Lake court case, and approximate dates, then ask for sentence effective date, credited time, fixed term or parole eligibility, full-term or scheduled termination, actual institutional release, release type, and supervision or discharge status. Idaho public-record exemptions can limit protected corrections details.

IDOC's Request for Information link also accepts reports of inaccurate public search data. Ask for a correction with enough record detail to identify the field, but do not treat an initial website mismatch as proof that the court or custody record is wrong.

After an Idaho Prison Release

A person paroled from an Idaho institution may be assigned to IDOC District 6 because Bear Lake County falls in that district. The public record can name a specialized unit rather than the nearest physical office. Follow the unit on the current result. District 6 or IDOC can confirm the correct public contact without disclosing protected supervision terms.

If the result is Discharged, state jurisdiction has ended, but the court case remains the legal record of the conviction and sentence. If the person is absent from IDOC, consider whether the episode was only county custody, federal custody, or immigration detention. Separate systems require separate checks.

Note: No IDOC prison is located in Bear Lake County; the page covers the statewide system serving people sentenced from the county.

Commission records add the decision layer. Hearing schedules and notices can show that parole was considered, granted, denied, deferred, or revoked. They do not establish the hour a resident left an institution. If an older notice has aged off the decisions page, request summary minutes, then corroborate the completed movement with IDOC.

Another authority can receive a person after an IDOC release. A county warrant, federal matter, or immigration hold may produce a transfer rather than a return to the community. Request the release destination and check the receiving custodian. “Released” from an Idaho prison does not rule out custody in a separate system.

The court case remains essential after discharge. It preserves the judgment, sentence, credit orders, and later completion filings when public. IDOC says a satisfied-sentence name can remain in its public search while conviction details disappear. An empty offense area is not proof that no conviction existed.
