District 6 Release Supervision

IDOC District 6 supervises clients in the community across Bannock, Bear Lake, Caribou, Franklin, Oneida, and Power Counties. The district mirrors Idaho's Sixth Judicial District. Someone released from a state institution on parole can be assigned here, as can a person placed on felony probation by a court. District 6 is therefore the destination for supervision, not the place from which an inmate is physically released.

The release event remains in IDOC's prison and client records. A result that combines “In community,” “Parole,” and “Released to Supervision” supports a post-prison move. A probation result may also say Released to Supervision even when no prison release occurred. Read the supervision type and sentencing record before describing the event.

Confirm District 6 Supervision

Use the IDOC Resident/Client Search before calling an office. The search covers current incarceration, felony probation, parole, and a limited trace after sentence satisfaction. It accepts a name or IDOC number and updates daily, though IDOC warns that data can lag.

1. Search the full IDOC number when known, or compare name matches with the case.
2. Open the detail and copy its status, supervision type, district or unit, and update date.
3. If parole appears, check the Commission decision, but treat a tentative date as conditional.
4. Compare the Bear Lake court judgment to distinguish parole from court probation.
5. Contact the unit shown on the record. If none is clear, start with the District 6 main office.

The Bear Lake County release record search covers the separate Sheriff's Office and court routes. A short misdemeanor jail sentence may never enter IDOC's statewide system.

District 6 Bear Lake Contacts

The official District 6 page lists the main office in Pocatello and satellite offices in Preston and Soda Springs. It does not state that every Bear Lake client reports to the geographically closest satellite. Some public records name another specialized or low-supervision unit. Follow the actual record rather than choosing by distance.

Ask the Pocatello office to confirm the correct public contact if the current record is unclear. Do not request a private home address or reporting schedule. A well-scoped question asks whether the displayed public status and office are current.

District 6 Office Detail

Bear Lake's supervision landscape has two distinct layers. District 6 handles IDOC felony parole and probation clients. The Bear Lake County courts page separately identifies local misdemeanor probation officer Ron Harper at 1011 Washington Street, Montpelier, 208-847-0626. A person released on a misdemeanor sentence may use that local route and never have a District 6 record.

This distinction is the most useful local routing rule. Check the judgment for felony or misdemeanor status, then follow the public IDOC result or county case. Do not infer assignment from which office is closest to the person's town. The live record may direct a client to a different supervision unit.

District 6 Parole Authority

District 6 supervises; it does not grant parole. The Idaho Commission of Pardons and Parole makes discretionary release and revocation decisions. IDOC institutions and records staff carry out the physical release and maintain the custody event. A court imposes probation. Keeping those functions separate makes each source easier to read.

A Parole Eligibility Date marks the earliest consideration point. A Commission grant or Tentative Parole Date is still conditional on programs, an approved plan, final paperwork, and other requirements. Released to Supervision is stronger evidence that the move occurred. Sentence Satisfaction or Discharged marks an end point, not merely release from a prison gate.

A formal decision that can return a parole client to custody.

Discharge

The end of IDOC jurisdiction.

District 6 Records and Limits

If the public status appears inaccurate, use the Request for Information link from the IDOC search. A narrow request can seek the public face sheet, supervision status, actual release-to-supervision entry, and discharge date. Identify the IDOC number, Bear Lake court case, and approximate dates. Idaho Title 74 permits access to public records but also protects specified corrections, safety, and personal information.

Commission summary minutes can be requested through its public information process when a decision notice has aged off the site. Those minutes explain an action, not the later prison release. For the exact physical movement, use IDOC's dated event. For a new arrest or county detention, use the booking custodian and court record.

Note: District 6 community supervision should never be described as detention in a Bear Lake County jail.

If a client is arrested on an alleged violation, the new booking is held by the arresting custodian. A Commission schedule may later list a revocation hearing, and IDOC may update the community or custody status. An allegation, arrest, hearing, revocation decision, and return to prison are successive records, not one event.

Supervision ends through a distinct record. Discharged means IDOC jurisdiction ended, while a future satisfaction or scheduled termination field remains prospective. Once the public result is sparse, the Bear Lake court judgment and a focused IDOC request preserve the historical path.

District 6 cannot replace the release record from an IDOC institution. For parole, match Released to Supervision with the Commission action and the unit displayed in the client result.
